Bad Finish – Bad Start

Bad finish to 2010 with a fatal MVC at Whirinaki was followed by a bad start to 2011 with a fatal on Railway Road, Hastings, after a car left the road and ended up into a ditch.

Lots On In The Bay

With the 2009 Art Deco weekend underway lots is going on in Hawkes Bay. Not all is related to Art Deco however….

Steam locomotive JA1211 was seen here running alongside Westshore Beach in the rain as it started a day trip to Wairoa.

Then in keeping with the train theme a truck and train came together in Ahuriri. Photos on NZPA.

The rain that had been falling all day contributed to a few MVC’s on the wet, slippery roads. A two car collision in Waiohiki Road caused congestion late this afternoon.

Smashing!

An early evening MVC left a shed demolished as a driver lost control of his car and crashed off the road in Avondale Road, Taradale.

Taradale and Napier fire appliances attended and cut the driver, who was complaining of neck pains, free from his car.
